Popular South-Korean show - Squid Game has made it to the pages of history, after winning an award for ‘Outstanding Action Performance as a Stunt Ensemble’ at the recently concluded, SAG Awards 2022. 

The show is also nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series for Lee Jung-Jae, which he won an Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series for Jung Ho-Yeon, which she won.

Interestingly, Squid Game became the very first Korean TV show and first foreign-language series to be nominated for a Screen Actors Guild award. 


"As the director of Squid Game, today has to be the happiest moment. I am reminded of all the days spent on first meetings with the cast, the auditions, visiting theaters to see their performances, the script readings, rehearsals and the days on set," show creator Hwang Dong-hyuk was quoted as saying in a statement. 

"I want to truly thank not only the cast who have been nominated today but also all of the supporting and the near-300 background talent," he added. "Squid Game would never have been what it became without the devotion and hard work of every single one of you. You deserve all the glory and credit."


To note, 'Squid Game' transpired to be one of the most viewed shows on Netflix, garnering millions of views in just a matter of weeks.

It soon streamed over three billion minutes across the world. The cast includes Lee Jung-jae, Park Hae-soo, Jung Ho-yeon, O Yeong-su, Heo Sung-tae. O Yeong-su was, who earned an award for Best Supporting Actor in the Television category, was the first Koran actor to win a Golden Globe.

Fans expressed their happiness while many took to their Twitter to share congratulatory messages. "Watching this made me cry. hoyeon deserved that award so much. squid game being her first acting gig yet it went beyond viral and she wins an SAG award bcos she’s that talented gawd," one user wrote in Twitter. 






"Jung Ho-Yeon and Lee Jung-Jae wins for both Outstanding Performance by a Male and Female Actor in a Drama Series! SQUID GAME ROCKS ITS SUPREMACY!!!" wrote another.

"ITS ALRIGHT SQUID GAME DIDNT WIN BEST ENSEMBLE BUT AT LEAST WE GOT LEE JUNG JAE AND JUNG HO YEON WINS," one user commented, while another wrote, "Squid Game DESERVED win and Lee Jung Jae too.
